Finnishman in London

"Time will tell if the focus will narrow in the course of time." Ha ha ha ... I let this act as a preable to the rather free-style writings in this blog. Mostly casual observations in real life and media, some sports, even self-ridiculing attempts at poetry;)

Good Lordi! On top of Hard-rock Germany

Just a quip... after coming back to Finland from Germany where some mountain-hiking and photography took place by the author.

We are the winners of ... Eurovision. Well, have been for over a week now. Will the world ever be the same again? Hmmm... That's something to ponder.

There are some things that just do not happen. Like it raining from the ground to skies, instead of the normal direction. Well, I cheated. Even that can happen in extraordinary weather conditions. Fish has rained from the skies, as proof of that, believe me, I have read that from somewhere!

The whirlwind of votes we got surely counts as a perfect example of a similar phenomenon. When enough diverse forces unite, something unusual can happen.

Protest-vote, show-vote, shocker-vote, rocker-vote, a-not-too-bad-at-all-band-vote.

I was in Oberstdorf, the southernmost town of Germany at the foot of the Alps. In the summer an eerie quiet mostly prevailed, even on a Saturday night.

But after walking around for a while, I came across a pub where the telly was on. Some half a dozen of youths gathered around the tube.

I was told the place was closed, it was a private party.

But after I asked how is Lordi doing, as I am from Finland, I suddenly became their guest of honour.

Free drinks, debate and sights of the guys showing a finger to the telly whenever we got 12 points ensued.

One of the guys, Leo, in fact claimed not to have ever before watch the Eurovision song contest, before this year. And the guy was bit older than five.

Germany gave us ten, not twelve. But then again, there are a good few million of Turks living in the country ...

Well, next year it is our turn to organise the competition.

That should be fun ... just hopefully it won't become embarrassing.

Surely lighting does not strike twice in the same spot, does it?
