Finnishman in London

"Time will tell if the focus will narrow in the course of time." Ha ha ha ... I let this act as a preable to the rather free-style writings in this blog. Mostly casual observations in real life and media, some sports, even self-ridiculing attempts at poetry;)

It's a lie, 99.9% certain

"The west condemns any denial of the Jewish Holocaust, but it permits the insult of Islamic sanctities," Ayatollah Khamenei said. The caricatures amounted to a "conspiracy by Zionists who were angry because of the victory of Hamas," he [Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei] said.
Guardian Unlimited

WHY LIE? The pictures [bad idea, bad quality cartoons], were published in Denmark in September 2005. The elections took place in the end of January 2006. Everyone can do the maths ... (unless there is an even greater conspiracy that to make me and everyone I know to misunderstand the way the time elapses)

WHY TO WORRY ABOUT IT? The big unknown is how big are the uneducated masses believing in this (obviously largely not their fault being uneducated). After all, the old truth of propaganda is that tell a lie often enough and it is more likely to turn into a truth in the minds of those receiving your message. (Another point, why is BT allowed to advertise. Anyone?)

WHERE ARE THEY? Muslims who accept that despite being defamatory, publishing these cartoons, a decision however ill-judged, did not entitle rioting and violence?

A WISDOM(?) It is usually the others who need to repair the windows journalists have broken (J.K. Paasikivi, 1870-1956, the Finnish president used to dealing with threats of the Russian Bear, the eastern neighbour)
